Chapter 9: IoT Security Threats

Image
Abstract IoT security threats refer to  potential malicious attacks that can target Internet of Things (IoT) devices , often exploiting vulnerabilities like weak passwords, outdated firmware, poor authentication methods, and insecure data transmission, allowing hackers to gain unauthorized access to sensitive data or control of the device, leading to data breaches, privacy violations, and disruption of operations.   Key IoT security threats include: Weak authentication:  Using easily guessable passwords or default credentials on IoT devices, providing easy access to attackers.   Botnets:  A network of compromised IoT devices controlled by a malicious actor, used to launch large-scale attacks.   Ransomware:  Encrypting data on an IoT device and demanding a ransom to decrypt it.   Data privacy breaches:  Sensitive data collected by IoT devices being accessed or leaked due to inadequate security measures.   Unpatched vulnerabili...
