The Teachings of Buddha

The Buddha's teachings include the Four Noble Truths, the Five Precepts, and the theory of Karma. 

Four Noble Truths Life is suffering, Suffering is caused by craving, Suffering can end, and There is a path to end suffering. 

Five Precepts Abstain from violence, Do not steal, Do not misuse the senses, Do not lie, and Avoid intoxicating drinks and drugs. 

Karma Karma is not fate or predestination. 

Nirvana 
  • Nirvana is the end of all existence
  • It is neither existence nor non-existence
  • It is achieved by realizing that all existence is suffering and following the Buddha's instructions
Dukkha 
  • Dukkha is a Pali word that means suffering or unsatisfactoriness
The Dhammapada 
  • The Dhammapada is a book that contains statements the Buddha made in sermons
The Heart of the Buddha's Teaching 
  • This book by Thich Nhat Hanh explains the importance of mindfulness, compassion, and generosity
